The company was established in 1979 as an agent serving exclusively a popular New York label called Nicole Miller and the business concept was started simply on quality garments being exported from Hong Kong to New York. As Nicole Miller grew in popularity in the 1980s with its collection especially her dresses and prints so did the Fredsimon business. We grew from a one label business to many more opportunities as the reputation of our philosophy, work attitudes and responsibilities grew along with the business. In 1983 we moved on from acting as agent to the role of manufacturing in Hong Kong starting a small workshop in Hong Kong with 100 sewers catering to the needs of our niche clientele. The reason for setting up the factory then was to establish a control over our quality standards, deliveries, costing, to be less dependent on suppliers and also setting a future for the company to grow in the right direction. This policy has served us very well til today as most customers seek to deal direct with suppliers and has less of a need for agents in the major part of our business where we see this trend through our Wal-mart and Marks & Spencer business. However a major part of our business still carries on the role of being an agent in special cases where our clients specifically request for us to act and operate on their behalf which we have always done well. This stems from our vision and philosophy which is serving to anticipate and exceed our clients’ expectations.
